DiDi starts registration to link taxi drivers in the country – Sectors – Economy

DiDi, the Chinese mobility giant that started operations in Colombia in April 2019, with its DiDi Expres service, announced that as of Wednesday it opened the registry to taxi partners for its new DiDi Taxi service, which will start operations in Bogotá, in the next few months.Juliana Pulecio, executive and spokeswoman for the company in the country, spoke about this announcement and her interest in entering this market of more than 50,000 taxi drivers.

“Didi is a company that was born as a taxi company in China. In fact, the product ‘taxis’ is the first one we developed. To make it local in Colombia we simply needed to adjust to the taxis legislation, to establish the times and distances and for our function to operate as a meter. To really bring the product to Colombia, what we had to do was adjust it, ”Pulecio said.

According to Pulecio, the company has a product team dedicated to the development of the platform exclusively and that allows them to move much faster than other platforms, whose priorities are different.

“We focus on the needs of each market. We are convinced that technology must be inclusive and that we must adjust to the particularities of the market. In Colombia it is clear that the taxi service is an indispensable actor in mobility issues and that is why they must be integrated into the technological issue. It makes no sense to exclude them from a platform that is in favor of mobility like ours. The idea is that the transport sector is energized and that there is room for all actors, ”says Pulecio.

According to the spokeswoman, the company is already in talks with taxi companies to show them their business model to work together.

For now, he explained, an organic registry is being made so that taxi drivers are partners of the company.

DiDi Taxi will be available in the DiDi App as an option for users to use any of the two services they currently have in the country in the same application.

Taxi members will have telephone support 24 hours a day. The registration process can easily be done from the DiDi Driver application.
