Connected toilets and robots for pets stand out at IFA fair in Berlin

Robots for pets, ovens with voice assistant and an application to remind children and the elderly when they should go to the bathroom stand out among the star products at the IFA in Berlin, the largest European fair of new technologies.

These are the most outstanding products of the German electronic show, which opened on Friday and concludes on September 11:

Robot for pets

If you do not have enough time to play with your cat or go for a walk, the "Pet Fitness" robot, created by the Calramian company Varram, can replace you, through the instructions given with the mobile phone.

You can even schedule physical exercises to stimulate companion animals, which if they do, will be rewarded with goodies that the same robot will give them.

Artificial intelligence in homes

Artificial intelligence wants to be increasingly present in homes, from ovens to refrigerators through washing machines.

The Siemens Home Connect system offers its customers a smart fridge that, through its cameras installed inside, recommends recipes based on the food in the refrigerator and also advises a shopping list.

Once the dish has been prepared, why not heat it in an oven that opens and preheats through a voice assistant?

In the same home there could also be a washing machine that indicates the humidity level of the clothes and transmits this information to the dryer, which allows the drying time to be established accurately.

This smart washing machine cannot, however, detect the presence of a black sock that would spoil a laundry of white clothes, which "would be quite useful," a Siemens spokeswoman acknowledges with a smile.

5G on a single chip

Despite the difficulties of being immersed in the commercial war between the United States and China, Huawei wants to continue developing 5G, the fifth generation of mobile phone network technology.

The Chinese manufacturer was on Friday one of the great protagonists of the German fair with the presentation of its new processor "Kirin 990", very powerful and with lower energy consumption.

Installed on a single SoC chip and presented as "the most powerful in the world", this processor will be incorporated into Huawei's latest mobile series, the Mate 30, which will go on sale before the end of September.

The creation of this processor is innovative since until now manufacturers had to join several chips in 5G technologies.

Samsung, Huawei's South Korean competitor, presented its folding phone, the "5G Fold", which arrived Friday at South Korean stores, after its failed launch in March due to screen problems.

Connected toilets

An application to not forget to go to the bathroom, this is the proposal of the company D-Free that has created this invention for children and the elderly.

With a sensor installed in the abdomen, this application detects bladder size changes, allowing the user to know when to go to the bathroom.

This application, which has already gone on sale in France, the United States and Japan, also serves the staff of nursing homes to know when their patients should do their needs.
