Bogota.- Colombia will offer 59 blocks in its next oil bidding round, the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) reported on Wednesday, amidst the country's efforts to encourage more investments in the sector.
Six companies won 11 contracts in an oil round earlier this year, which ANH said would generate investments of about US $ 500 million.
Of all the blocks, five are located offshore, and the remaining in the continental zone, in highly prospective basins of the country, the ANH said in a statement.
"The proposed block offer for this second auction is aimed at ensuring the country's energy self-sufficiency, raising the level of reserves, generating critical resources to maintain the fiscal and exchange balance, and meeting the growing demand for social investment," the document added. .
On October 21, the final list of investors authorized to participate in the auction will be published and on October 31, the proposals will be deposited, and by December 3 sign the contracts.
