According to a Medium publication published by Coinbase on September 12, Coinbase Pro will begin accepting DASH deposits starting next Monday "for at least 12 hours before allowing full negotiation." The launch of DASH, on the other hand, is scheduled for 9 Pacific Standard Time AM on September 17.
Similarly, the company also noted:
Once a sufficient supply of DASH is established on the platform, the trade in DASH / USD and the DASH / BTC order books will begin in phases, starting with the publication only mode and continuing with the complete trade if our metrics for a healthy market
DASH and its growth
Coinbase added that not everyone will be able to enjoy the new features. According to the announcement, DASH will be available in Coinbase compatible jurisdictions, with the exception of the state of New York and the United Kingdom. Additional regions "may be added at a later date".
The publication explains that although DASH is a cryptocurrency optimized for payments with optional speed and privacy features; the trading platform will not admit them "at this time."
The Exchange claims that DASH is accepted by more than 4,000 merchants worldwide; a Mall of Venezuela recently accepted payments with the DASH cryptocurrency.
Last month Coinbase announced that it would add support for eight cryptocurrencies, including Tezos (XTZ) and DASH.
