Chevrolet Onix Plus: the first compact sedan with Wi-Fi – 09/19/2019

The Chevrolet Onix does not stop its successful march and continues to evolve to remain among the best sellers in South America. Brazilian market leader in the last four years and one of the best sellers in our country, has just been renewed in a big way.

Made in Brazil, the new Onix will arrive in Argentina in December with interesting sales arguments; between them which will be the first model of its segment to have Wi-Fi.

Another important novelty is that the range now adds a unpublished sedan version (Onix Plus) that will replace the Prism. In this way, both bodies will be protected by the same last name.

The new Chevrolet Onix also incorporates new engines and has one of the highest levels of safety equipment in its category. All versions are equipped as standard with six airbags (2 front, 2 side and 2 curtains), and with stability control.

In addition, almost simultaneously with its launch, the Onix Plus obtained the highest rating in the crash tests of Latin NCAP, with five stars in protection for adult and child passengers.

The range that will be offered in our market is composed of six versions, three with five-door body (Onix, Onix LT and Premier) and three in sedan variant (Onix Plus, Onix Plus LT and Onix Plus Premier).

As for dimensions, both versions grow in size. The new hatchback measures 4.16 meters long (23 cm more); 2.04 meters wide (+8 cm, with mirrors); 1.47 tall (same height); and 2.55 meters between axles (+3 cm).

While with respect to the Prism, the Onix Plus is 19 centimeters longer (4.47 meters), 8 wider (2.04 meters) and 7 centimeters longer between axes (2.60 meters). The height is the same.

When reaching a speed of 120 km / h on highway sections, the tachometer does not work beyond 2,500 laps and the car remains unperturbed. The gearbox is well adapted and the gear is smooth, without bumps or hesitations, while the brake system (front disc and rear drum) works safely.

The brand reports that it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.1 seconds, while the average consumption is 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers tours.

In the new Onix the driving position is easily found thanks to the height and depth adjustment of the steering wheel, as well as the belt and the seat, which offers good visibility. The multifunction steering wheel has a good grip and its leather lining draws attention for its refinement. The new front seats have greater lateral support than the previous ones and, inside, they have different densities according to each part of the body, which benefits comfort.

The great electronic innovation of the new Onix is ​​reflected with level 4 connectivity. He Wifi auto native is a novel proposal that supports up to 7 devices connected simultaneously.

The connection 4G Not only does it appear automatically as soon as the car is entered, but the signal reaches up to 15 meters outside the vehicle. The service will be delivered by Claro and there will be 3GB for 3 months of data as a courtesy to test the system.

To hire it, there will be options ranging from 2 to 20GB per month and the plan, as told Clarion from the brand, it will be cheaper than conventional cell phones.

The multimedia system does not have its own GPS, but you can take advantage of the smartphone using Android Auto and Apple Carplay. On the other hand, the OnStar app is renamed MyChevrolet.

It remains to define what the prices of its versions will be, but for that we must wait until December, when it arrives.
