Saltillo, Coah.- Although no major impacts were expected for the Ramos Arizpe Complex of General Motors, due to the strike that has stopped all GM plants in the United States since last Monday, the situation took a very worrying turn yesterday.North American carriers that serve the automotive industry decided to stand in solidarity with the UAW (United Auto Workers) union and have stopped all kinds of supplies shipments, by North American automakers, to GM plants and complexes in Mexico.

Internal sources of the Ramos Arizpe Complex revealed that the decision of the carriers would force production to stop at the Ramos Arizpe, San Luis Potosí and Silao complexes, as stocks of parts and assemblies sent by US suppliers are running out.

For a decade, General Motos workers were not going on strike.

Until yesterday, the only measure that had been taken at the local plant was the suspension of the two extra hours that each of the two production shifts of the Ensamble plant was working on.

Another of the extreme measures that could be taken would be to extend the “technical strike” for more days, which, due to maintenance of lines, the complex was scheduled from December 14 to January 6, after the intense production that has occurred in recent months. .

GM strike in the US would hit Ramos plant

To the strike that for days workers of General Motors carry out in the plants of the United States have been added carriers, a situation that will eventually impact the Ramos Arizpe plant, as well as those of other entities, because they would run out of inputs.

If the strike is extended and the production of the Blazer and Equinox trucks has to be stopped, measures would have to be taken such as applying pending vacations to the staff and gradually taking more drastic measures, so that the red lights inside the interior of the local complex.
