"The four Team Blowers are the most valuable Bentleys in the world, and we know that there is a demand for genuine recreations that can be used, enjoyed and loved without risk for the precious originals," said Bentley President and CEO, Adrian Hallmark, in the special announcement.
The 4½-liter Blower has a four-cylinder engine with a Roots supercharger that increases power to 240 horsepower in the racing version, instead of 130hp without it. The company manufactured only 55 of them, including five specifically for races.
To create the new cars, Bentley will use a combination of cutting-edge technology and old-school crafts. The company will disassemble its own 4½ liter Blower and scan each piece in 3D. You will also use some of the original molds, tool templates and hand tools from the 1920s to make the new components. The 12 buyers must be patient because Bentley will need approximately two years to produce them.
Bentley celebrates 100 years in business this year. In addition to these special cars, the brand introduced the Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition as a way to celebrate the milestone. The 100-car limited stroke included a 1929 Bentley Blower No. 1 piston piece on the dash's rotating screen. The company harvested the material while restoring the classic car.
