BBVA has included in a prospectus for issuing fixed income securities, remitted to the National Commission of the Stock Market (CNMV), the risks derived from the investigation of the "Villarejo case", which could pose "fines and damages" to the entity for its reputation.

BBVA sent on Tuesday a supplement to the aforementioned fixed income securities prospectus (registered on June 27), in which the entity recalls that the National Court, within the "Villajero case", decided to charge the bank for the crimes of bribery, discovery and disclosure of secrets and corruption in business, as published several media today.

However, as the Information progresses, this risk warning is recorded three weeks after doing the same in a brochure sent to the US supervisor, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States.

In your letter to the CNMV, BBVA says it has been collaborating and continues to proactively do so with the judicial authorities, "having shared with justice the findings of the" forensic "investigation, still ongoing, concerning the possible relationship with Cenyt."

However, the bank states that it is currently unable to publicly disclose such information due to the legal requirement not to interfere with the judicial investigation.

"This criminal judicial process is at an incipient moment within the investigation phase and under summary secrecy, so it is not possible to predict at this time the duration of said procedure or all its possible results or implications for the group , including fines and damages or damages to the reputation of the group ", clarifies BBVA.
