The Metropolitan Bank of Havana announced that from September 9 to 11, customers who use the magnetic card payment system, through Point of Sale Terminals (POS), will receive an 8% discount on their total purchases .

According to the official Cuban News Agency (ACN), the objective of this supposed bonus is "to stimulate the use of magnetic cards as a means of electronic payment in establishments and commercial offices".

After the date proposed by the entity, the permanent payment will be only 4%. This applies to all those band cards issued by the Government for: the payment of salaries, incentives, pensions, pensions and savings accounts.

"The Metropolitan Bank reminds that inquiries about the operations carried out and the bonuses received can be made through ATMs, the Mobile Banking service or through the Telebanca Call Center," he added. ACN.

What seems to be a "help" by the regime, is nothing more than a gesture that does not respond to the true demands of the citizens of the Island.

By applying this rate to a water tap, whose value in a state hardware store can reach 1682.50 CUP, the final price stays at 1547.40 CUP (62 CUC). A number that remains exorbitant for any Cuban "on foot."

At the end of June the president Miguel Díaz-Canel announced a salary increase on the Island. The minimum income went from 250 to 400 CUP (16 CUC), which also meant a rise in the average salary to 1067 (44 CUC).

Even with the salary increase and the new bonus of the Metropolitan Bank, a worker in the state sector could not acquire a water tap with the income of one month, for example.
