Most…
– Its hybrid powertrain
– Its autonomy in electric
– Its living space on board
– Its operating comfort
… and the least
– His clumsy behavior
– Some of its materials
– His average performances
Certainly not the most attractive, this imposing vehicle (4.70 m long) a bit all-purpose is the smartest with its hybrid-rechargeable technology. After less than six hours of charging on a conventional 230 V / 10 A, it theoretically allows 54 km 100% electric, without leading to economy, thanks to its lithium-ion battery increased from 12 to 13.8 kWh of capacity.
All but complicated to manage
It powers each electric motor, including a 60 kW and 137 Nm to drive the front axle, and now developing 70 kW and 195 Nm for the rear axle. And that is enough to get into the fast lanes in electric, even if the speed limit does not exceed 135 km / h. Empty batteries, the new engine, from 2.0 to 2.4 liters, is maneuvering with 135 hp and 211 Nm of torque. It drives the front wheels while changing into a generator to maintain a sufficient charge level for the battery.
At the height, the Outlander brakes almost alone by releasing the accelerator so that the battery recharge is then maximum. When climbing, the engine brake is at a minimum. In descent, it goes back to the maximum. It's anything but complicated to manage. Finally very economical to use, this SUV quickly forget sensations that it is not able to offer as its behavior is revealed clumsy. But the essential is not in its performance, which is nevertheless good performance thanks to a cumulative power of 230 hp and different driving modes managed smoothly and automatically.
