Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, promised that his company, by 2040, will have a zero carbon footprint and encouraged other companies to follow suit to achieve one of the objectives set for the climate in the Paris Agreement to advance 10 years.
"We want to use our influence and our reach to lead the way," Jeff Bezos said at a press conference.
In this way, Amazon announces that it will be the first company to commit to an effort to reduce emissions, ahead of the goal set in the Paris Agreement to reach a carbon neutral footprint by 2050.
FLEETS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES
To a large extent this effort will be reflected in the process of distribution of shipments, which will be carried out through a fleet of electric cars.
"The first electric vehicles will be on the street in 2021," said Bezos, who also said that by 2024 they will have 100,000 of these units.
This announcement comes a day before a global mobilization against climate change before the UN summit.
