After 25 years at the head of the Latam Airlines Group, Enrique Cueto will leave his post on March 31, 2020 and will be replaced by the current Commercial Vice President, Roberto Alvo Milosawlewitsch, Latam announced.
The company indicated that this announcement occurs in a context of solidity in which the Group has successfully faced a long period of complex global and regional scenarios and, in addition, has been able to carry out a transformation rarely seen in the airline industry worldwide, creating the largest Latin American airline network. As he said, this change will allow a planned transition without neglecting current strategic priorities and ongoing projects.
“This announcement is made in an environment of solidity and stability. Today we are the leader in the connectivity of the region with the world, we are within the most punctual airlines in the world and with a service distinguished by the millions of customers that prefer us, and we have considerably improved our financial position, ”said the President from the Board of Directors of LATAM Airlines Group, Ignacio Cueto.
The company added that this appointment is made after a planned succession process that began last year and that included external and internal candidates. Thus, he specified that the unanimous decision of the board of directors to appoint Roberto Alvo took into consideration his 18 years of experience in the company, successfully occupying different positions in Finance, Fleet, Planning, and in recent years, leading the Commercial area.
“We are confident that the leadership and deep knowledge of the industry and the Roberto Alvo region will lead us to fly even higher, maintaining the preference of the more than 70 million passengers we transport per year and become one of the lines most admired areas of the world, ”said Ignacio Cueto.
