Aerospace Commemoration-VOL-Rabat-Toulouse-1919-2019

COMMEMORATION – On the initiative of the Aéro-club de Rabat (ACRR) in cooperation with the National Aviation Association in Morocco, a Moroccan crew made the first scheduled flight on 1 September 2019 (Toulouse-Rabat) -Casablanca) Aeropostale to commemorate the centenary of the founding of this mythical company of the twentieth century.

This initiative, carried out by a crew of four, is also part of the commemoration of the first regular connection between Toulouse, Rabat and Casablanca and is a recognition of the role of the Kingdom in the development of intercontinental flights and commercial.

This flight commemorates the Airmail Centennial (1919-2019) is part of a program of events spanning the entire year 2019, said ACRR Secretary General Hicham Meftah. preparations for the celebration of the centenary of the founding of Aéropostale.

"Intercontinental and commercial flights would not have existed and Aéropostale could never have taken off without the conclusion of the air agreement in 1919 allowing the overflight of the Moroccan territory," he said.

In addition, an exhibition called "The Line – A Moroccan Epic Rabat 1919-2019" will be held at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM) from September 19 to October 12, 2019, and December in Dakhla.

For his part, Ali Najab, member of the organizing committee of the commemoration of the centenary of Aéropostale, stressed the importance of this event which celebrates the first flight initiated by Pierre-Georges Latécoère in 1919.

"The ACRR initiated this flight, made by plane with Moroccan registration, to commemorate the centenary of Aerospace," said Najab, noting that Moroccan crews will participate, on September 23 and 24, 2019, in the Toulouse Air Rally. Dakar, with 23 aircraft registered CN (Morocco) that will make stops at Dakhla and Tarfaya ".

For his part, Abdelkrim Hachadi, a member of the ACRR's Scientific, Historical and Cultural Commissariat, highlighted the symbolism of the re-issue of Aéropostale's first scheduled flight by a group of enthusiasts.

This event is a commemoration of the act signed on March 31, 1919 by the Sultan Moulay Youssef, sovereign visionary, who understood the interest of the creation of the line Rabat-Toulouse and conceded by Dahir an authorization of overflight guaranteeing the sovereign protection planes throughout the Moroccan territory, he explained.
