Former NBA player Andre Emmett, briefly passed by the Memphis Grizzlies and New Jersey Nets, but also by the French Championship in the ranks of Pau-Orthez in 2008, was shot dead Monday in Dallas, police said local.

Emmett, 37, was sitting in his car in front of his home around 2.30am on Monday, when he was approached by two people carrying a firearm. After an altercation, Emmett fled but was shot dead, according to the police report. He was found by a passerby, but died at the hospital.

Drafted in 2004 by the Seattle Supersonics, Emmett has played only 14 games in the NBA. Eight with the Grizzlies where he was immediately transferred (2004-2005) and six with the Nets in 2012. Meanwhile, this globe-trotter basketball played a few months at the Pau-Lacq-Orthez Elan Beard at the season of their descent into ProB.

Monday the French club paid homage on Twitter to his former player.
