Emmett, 37, was sitting in his car in front of his home around 2.30am on Monday, when he was approached by two people carrying a firearm. After an altercation, Emmett fled but was shot dead, according to the police report. He was found by a passerby, but died at the hospital.
Drafted in 2004 by the Seattle Supersonics, Emmett has played only 14 games in the NBA. Eight with the Grizzlies where he was immediately transferred (2004-2005) and six with the Nets in 2012.
