New Jersey Devil Wayne Simmonds has revealed he hopes to be booed by Philadelphia Flyers fans this season.

The one who has worn the colors of the Pennsylvania formation for almost eight campaigns made this statement during a meeting with the TSN network on Thursday.

"To be honest, I think I would be angry if they do not boo," he said.

Simmonds will not have to wait too long to see if his wish will come true. Indeed, the Devils will visit the Flyers in their third game of the season, October 9. This will be the first match played in the Wells Fargo Center in 2019-2020.

The 31-year-old has signed a one-year, $ 5 million contract with the New Jersey team this summer. Previously, he had spent a few months in the organization of the Nashville Predators, a team that had acquired Flyers on February 25th.

In 79 games in 2018-19, Simmonds had 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points, one of his worst statistical campaigns in the Bettman circuit. The Ontarian intends to recover with his new formation.

"I did not have a good season, they [the Devils] did not have a good year, so we're looking for redemption. I want and the team wants to come back and prove that we are talented. "
