The United States is the 2nde world market for the wind power sector, with 7,588 MW of new capacity installed last year (with a total investment of $ 11 billion), bringing the installed capacity of the US wind farm to more than 96 GW at the end of 2018.

In the UK report published on August 23, the US Department of Energy delivers all of its latest technical and economic data on the US wind farm. It is reminded that the sector continues to develop " at a fast pace In the United States, thanks to the federal support package (production tax credit) and aid implemented by many US states.

As a reminder, Texas is by far the largest US state where the largest wind capacity is located (nearly 24.9 GW at the end of 2018). Only 4 countries in the world (China, Germany, United States, India) have a higher cumulative wind power capacity (in France, the installed capacity is around 15.3 GW).

Wind energy accounted for 6.5% of US electricity generation in 2018 (compared with 5.1% in metropolitan France). The average load factor of US wind farms now stands at 35%, with parks built between 2014 and 2017 averaging 41.9%, according to the US Department of Energy.

The average "LCOE" of the wind farms built in 2018 would have reached a historically low level of $ 36 / MWh.
