Unsurprisingly, Montreal Canadiens' first pick at the latest draft, Cole Caufield, will not compete in the organization's rookie camp from September 5th to 10th.
The Habs unveiled Wednesday the list including the names of 28 players who will be present. Thus, Caufield will focus instead on his season within the American university network. He will not accompany the other hopes of Bleu-Blanc-Rouge who will take part in a rookie tournament. This competition will also involve the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets from September 6 to 9 in Belleville.
Among the 18 strikers invited were Nick Suzuki, who won the Golden Knights of Vegas last year, Jake Evans and Ryan Poehling, who made his National League debut in the final game of the regular 2018-2019 calendar.
Goalkeepers Cayden Primeau and Alexis Shank are among the players invited to the camp, as well as defenseman Cale Fleury. Several other figures who played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League received a call: Morgan Adams-Moisan, Alexandre Alain, Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin, Nicolas Guay, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Samuel Houde and Vincent Marleau. In addition, Joel Teasdale, injured, will miss the call.
The camp will begin in Brossard on September 5th. Also, a duel against a hockey team training from three universities (Concordia, McGill and UQTR) is scheduled five days later.
Finally, the annual Canadiens Golf Tournament will be held on September 9th.
