Under the terms of this agreement, this financial envelope will be invested in the development and strengthening of Maroc Telecom's telecommunications infrastructure, as well as for the deployment of high and very high speed (mobile and fixed) throughout the Kingdom.
This investment, which will spread over the period 2019/2021, aims to meet the growing demand of people in quality connectivity and their desire to experiment with new technologies, says Maroc Telecom, in a statement.
The Moroccan operator explains that this investment is part of the voluntarist investment policy. IAM had already initiated similar programs that helped to gradually bring out parts of the national territory from digital isolation.
In the last five years, more than 58 billion DH have been mobilized. Added to the amount of the new agreement, it is in total more than 68 billion DH that Maroc Telecom will have mobilized to facilitate the access of the majority of Moroccans to quality services.
Maroc Telecom thus confirms its vocation as a leading investor by constantly ensuring the development of its telecommunications networks.
Through these investments, Maroc Telecom intends to respond to the continued growth of traffic as well as the need to deploy new access technologies for ultra-fast broadband.
According to the latest statistics of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) of Morocco, published in March 2019, Maroc Telecom holds 43.8% of the shares of the Moroccan telecom market with an annual growth of 2.37% in a market of 44.73 million subscribers.
It should be noted that the penetration rate of mobile telephony in Morocco has been estimated at 127%.
