Home run cross, tow 5 and Twins exceed 11-9 to Real

Nelson Cruz hit a home run and towed five runs and the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals on Friday 11-9.

Max Kepler, Dominican Jorge Polanco and Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario each hit two hits each for the Twins, who took advantage of a seventh inning with five scores to maintain their three-game lead over Cleveland in the Central Division of the American League.

The Dominican Cruz broke a tie at 6-6 with a double of two runs that went to the board between the right and center gardens. The ball was about five feet lower than its double tug of the fifth episode, which was a couple of feet past the fence.

Also the Dominican Miguel Sanó, the Venezuelan Luis Arráez and Jason Castro towed two annotations to build an 11-6 advantage for Minnesota.

Trevor May (4-3) needed just one pitch to get the last out of the seventh inning, which earned him the win. Sergio Romo achieved the last four outs for his first save with the Twins, where he arrived on Monday after adding 17 in 18 opportunities with the Marlins.

Richard Lovelady (0-1) carried the loss after conceding a hit and two plate arrivals in one inning and a third of work.

For the Royals, the Cuban Jorge Soler 5-3, with two scored and one driven. The Venezuelan Humberto Arteaga 3-1, with one produced.
