"This decrease is 0.2% for customers who use gas for cooking, 0.5% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 1.0% for households that burn at home. gas", details the regulator. In its deliberation, the CRE emphasizes that there has been an increase in Engie's supply cost. But this was more than offset by a smoothing mechanism decided at the end of June by the government, so that rates are set back in the end.

Engie's regulated tariffs, applied to nearly 4.2 million French households, usually vary from month to month depending on the costs of gas supplies, infrastructure and marketing, as well as various taxes.

But the government had decided a smaller drop than expected by this mechanism inst July to be able to smooth down the decline over several months so as not to cause too much variation on the bills in the fall.
