The young French driver Anthoine Hubert was killed on Saturday in an accident during a Formula 2 race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, on the sidelines of the F1 Grand Prix.
Involved in a high-speed pileup with the American Juan Manuel Correa and the Japanese Marino Sato, 22-year-old Hubert succumbed to his injuries, while Correa, who suffered leg fractures, was taken to the hospital, announce the organizers, saying that the Japanese driver came out unscathed.
Born in Lyon on September 22, 1996, Anthoine Hubert ran in F2 for the British team BWT Arden. He had been French champion in F4 in 2013 and GP3 Series last year. He was also a development driver for Renault in the Renault Sport Academy.
