The Cuban expelotero Danny Miranda Agramonte has been reported as "very serious", after a surgery he underwent at the Center for Surgical Medical Research (CIMEQ), in Havana.

The Avilanian was sent earlier this month to CIMEQ from the Provincial General Teaching Hospital Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola de Ciego de Ávila, according to the local newspaper Invader, who did not give details about his condition.

The 2004 Athens Olympic champion was in the intensive care unit since Sunday.

Miranda retired from active baseball in 2008, with 1,009 hits and an average of 290 in the National Series. Until very recently, he worked in the cadet and youth categories at the School of School Sports Initiation (EIDE) Marina Samuel Noble in his province.
