A Beauharnois city councilor, Alain Savard, will be the candidate of the Popular Party of Canada (PPC) in Salaberry-Suroît. The latter will hold an information meeting on Thursday, August 29th starting at 7 pm at the Fourchette et Piment restaurant, located at 22 Du Marché Street in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

In a statement sent to the media, the party led by Maxime Bernier mentions that Mr. Savard "will make a speech about his desire to be involved in the riding and his vision of Quebec in Canadian unity."
The candidate, resident of Beauharnois, will be accompanied by Jacques Grenier, organizer of the CPP for Quebec, who will speak about immigration to the country. The CPP has been talked about in recent days because of a poster on which we see a photo of the leader Maxime Bernier who says no to "mass immigration". This meeting will be an opportunity for the party to clarify its thinking on this issue.
On candidate Alain Savard's Facebook page, it says that he is an electrician and a lineman who has already been employed by Hydro-Québec. He was elected to Beauharnois City Council in the 2017 elections.
