It is called “potentially dangerous” because it will pass close to Earth’s orbit, but without colliding with it

Asteroid 52768 was spotted for the first time in 1998. It is estimated to have a size ranging from a minimum of 1.7 kilometers to a maximum of 4 kilometers.

It is not among those that can cause impacts they would have “devastating effects”. Astronomers believe there is a chance in 50,000 that an asteroid could hit Earth in 100 years.
