Israeli House Speaker Avigdor Lieberman decided to advance the law initiative to prevent a criminal accused of serving as prime minister. At today’s session of the Israel House, our decision was also made to promote a law limiting the term of two prime ministers.

Yesterday, before the right-wing bloc session in the Knesset, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “the move that Gantz leads is undermining democracy,” referring to a law that would prevent him from taking office.

Netanyahu added: “The public has given me more votes than any other prime ministerial candidate. The Likud under my leadership has become the biggest knockout party. “Stole the election and try to hurt me. My friends and I and millions of civilians can’t let that happen.”

Shas chairman Aryeh Deri said: “The right-wing bloc received two million and 216,000 votes. The people decided the most clearly. The outcome cannot be changed. We do not want a fourth election and in no way can we change the result “By legislation.”

Ynet first announced yesterday that Knesset members in blue and white, Labor-Bridge-Meretz and the joint list are working to formulate a law that will prevent a defendant from bribing to serve as prime minister. According to white-blue executives, Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz has given the green light to the move, and the party estimates that if the result remains 58 seats in the right bloc, the chance of passing the law is significantly increased.

“A prime minister with a bribery charge must resign in every corrected state,” said MK Ahmed Tibi of the joint list.

It should be noted that during a transitional government, it is impossible to bring private legislation to the Knesset, but from the Knesset’s inauguration on March 17, private bills can be put to the vote. Members of the Knesset can set up a committee to discuss the law and grant it an exemption from a discount requirement that will lead to expedited legislative procedure. If the Speaker of the Knesset opposes or delays the moves, a move can be promoted to oust him under the aegis of the existing Knesset against Netanyahu. This is an amendment to a basic law that requires a special majority of 61 Knesset members.

MK Itzik Shmuli, one of the initiators of the bill to prevent a prime minister under indictment, said: “It is time for our camp to strive for victory and decision as well. If it is possible to combine hands and prevent a majority in the Knesset from a prime minister’s nightmare with serious indictments being administered by a state and also threatening the rule of law, it must be achieved in every way. I have no intention of receiving moral preaching from any of those who until yesterday explained to me that in democracy, everything is usually allowed, which has been putting Mandelblit on the agenda for 48 hours and until yesterday pushed the law for bleaching defectors in the Knesset. I also have no intention of apologizing that we are not fighting Netanyahu with gloves and manners. “
