On Tuesday, two days later, this patient returned to the hospital in Ichilov, claiming he was still feeling bad. The patient did not undergo a corona detection test because he did not return from abroad recently and did not come in contact with people who came from abroad, and therefore did not meet the test criteria. After a specialist in emergency room Ichilov insisted that the patient needed this examination, this was approved and the patient went into hospital intensive care. A few hours later, it became clear that he was indeed infected with Corona, and the medical team he came in contact with was required to enter home isolation.

A physician at the URC Ichilov told Ynet that “when we found out he was a Corona patient, we started a frenzy among the teams. Ask who he was and where he was, everyone was under pressure. ”She points out that after the incident there was uncertainty among the staff about their continued conduct in light of the fact that nurses, doctors and auxiliary personnel were in contact with the patients.
The doctor added: “I’m afraid to admit it, but some of the doctors who came in contact with the patient had to continue the shift and treat other patients. It was very limited personnel, which made us self-conscious whether to leave in the middle of a shift and go into solitary confinement or treat people.”
She further noted that due to changing Ministry of Health guidelines, there are misunderstandings. “If we were important to the system, we would immediately be treated and not need to be nurtured,” she said. “We didn’t know who should be in solitary confinement and what we were supposed to do. Right now, only one doctor from the home isolation clinic. We have families, we have children, it is endangering us and our family.”
In a letter from the medical team, they say to Prof. Gamzo that “we have decided to contact you during this period when the corona virus is spreading in Israel and the feeling is very severe – because we are beginning to fear for our own health.” They also wrote: “We are aware that the situation has a lot of uncertainty, and we know that there are many teams that are working hard to address this huge challenge, but our daily work has the impression that it is possible to improve the perception of the operation and reduce the risk to us and our patients.”
In their appeal, the CBS staff notes that they have been harnessed for this profession to save lives, but have an entire life outside the hospital and expect to be guarded as well. The team cited in letter its requests from the hospital management, including masks, to open a separate site for the admission of patients who cough from all Reason being and allocating more corona testing to patients and staff.
A few hours later, the hospital’s management issued a statement to all employees, announcing new operations following the corona’s spread. Among other things, it was decided that the internal ward 6, where the exposure event was, would not receive new patients. In addition, the hospital has decided to establish Corona Brigade to coordinate any questions, both professional and operational, for all hospital staff including providing relevant guidance.
A senior doctor at a hospital in the south of the country, where a similar incident occurred, told Ynet today about the frustration of the medical team: “People go to the ER when they may be Corona patients, A medical team comes in contact with a Corona patient – they don’t care enough, and they have to go into isolation. ”
The Ichilov Hospital said that the hospital’s management had not yet met with the MRLA staff before receiving the letter, and took the good suggestions seriously, as far as possible, with a commitment to treating patients and protecting the peace of the team and preparing for the next.
