Avoid kissing your pets: this is the warning launched by the Hong Kong authorities after the dog of an infected person was found positive for coronavirus, in the first probable case of human-animal transmission. “Pet owners don’t have to be overly concerned and under no circumstances abandon them,” said the Hong Kong Department of Agriculture.
The invitation was to “adopt good hygiene practices (including washing hands before and after being around or handling animals, food or supplies, as well as avoiding kissing them) and to maintain a clean and hygienic home environment” .
