Basque final in Spain King’s Cup
Athletic Bilbao, who eliminated Granada in the Spanish King’s Cup semi-final, managed to reach the final after Real Sociedad. Thus, for the first time in trophy history, two Basque teams will play the final.
WALL – After the Real Sociedad in the Spanish Football King’s Cup, Athletic Bilbao, another Basque country team, also made it to the finals.
Athletic Bilbao, who defeated Granada 1-0 in the first game of the semi-final of the cup, lost his name to the final with a displacement goal average despite being defeated 2-1 on the road.
In the match, the first half of which ended 0-0, Granada took the lead with Carlos Fernandez in the 48th minute, and the 76th minute with German Sanchez’s head goal.
The dreams of Granada, who came very close to playing the second finale in the King’s Cup 61 years later, fell into the water with the goal scored by Yuri Berchiche from Athletic Bilbao in the 81st minute.
Athletic Bilbao, who left the field 2-1 defeats, nevertheless experienced the happiness of being in the finals for the 38th time in the King’s Cup.
Turkish football player İsmail Köybaşı, who played in Granada, was not included in the match with the choice of coach Diego Martinez.
ATLETİC BİLBAO CUP THE MOST WINNER TEAM
Athletic Bilbao, the second club to win the King’s Cup with 23 times the most after Barcelona (30), last played in 2015 and lost 3-1 to Barcelona.
Real Sociedad, the first finalist of the cup, eliminated the 2nd league team Mirandes in the semi-final with 2-1 and 1-0 wins. Real Sociedad, who has won this trophy twice so far, was in the finals after 32 years.
