Ghana, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Botswana, are just some of the countries where there is greater freedom of the press compared to Italy. In the annual ranking of Reporters San Frontiers, the largest international association in defense of journalists from all over the world, Italy is in 41st place with a score that still drops by -1.29 percent, despite having climbed two positions compared to 2019 .
The note of the prestigious international association that concerns Italy reads: “about 20 Italian journalists are currently living under protection because of the threats of magic. The level of violence and threats against journalists increases especially in Rome and in the southern regions. In Campania the director of Campanianotizie.com, Mario De Michele, risked dying in an ambush of the Camorra style in November 2019 following a journalistic investigation. There have been cases of physical and verbal violence against journalists by groups belonging to the neo-fascist wing. ”
