Justice Minister Amir Ohana approved an amendment to the committee’s work to distribute funds ceased under Class Actions Law, which would authorize it to allocate money for bodies selected by it to urgently assist the state and the public in dealing with the Corona virus.

In light of the approval of the Minister of Justice, the Commission can allocate any amount that it deems appropriate, provided that a single allocation to a specific body does not exceed NIS 3 million.

A central focus to which funds have been allocated are the general hospitals that deal with the disease-induced morbidity for equipping the means of protection or instrumentation necessary for their work in this field.

On the night of Tuesday and Wednesday, the committee discussed the needs and the budget available to it, relying on the list of hospitals received from the Ministry of Health and rating the hospitals according to their size and scope of service provided to the population nationwide.

At the end of the hearing, the committee decided to make allowances as follows:

* NIS million for each of the following hospitals: Rambam, Ichilov, Beilinson, Tel Hashomer, Hadassah, Shaare Zedek, Soroka.

* NIS 500,000 for each of the following hospitals: Wolfson, Assaf Harofe, Ziv, Poria, Bnei Zion, Hillel Yaffe, Galilee, Barzilai, Laniado, Assuta Ashdod, Maayan Yeshua, Nazareth Scottish Hospital, Elmoxed Hospital YM), the valley, Meir, Kaplan, Carmel, Golda Hasharon, Yoseftal, Schneider.

The Commission for Distributing Funds Under the Class Actions Law was established in 2017 after a bill passed in the Knesset to distribute funds received under class action lawsuits for public purposes.

Minister of Justice Ohana: “This is an important step from a series of moves that we are advancing in the Ministry of Justice to assist the public and medical teams as the state and the world deal with the Corona crisis. I applaud the chairman of the committee, retired (retired) Shulamit Dotan and members of the committee for their work for the public benefit and health. “.
