An individual entrenched at his home, rue des Champs in Awans (province of Liège), threatens to explode his house, confirmed on Sunday evening the bourgmestre of the commune, Thibaud Smolders.
Around 7:00 p.m., a neighbor called the Grâce-Hollogne / Awans police zone after the suspect announced his intention to detonate one or more gas cylinders.
The authorities decided to evacuate the houses located on 70 meters on either side of the individual’s house. The Liège prosecution was notified and the guard magistrate called on the special intervention units of the federal police, to negotiate and resolve the situation without damage.
At 9 p.m., the operation was still in progress and the suspect’s motives were still unknown. According to the first elements, the person would be in a situation of isolation.
