Due to concerns about the spread of the virus in Israel, El Al is considering the possibility of suspending flights to China until further notice. According to the report (Wednesday) in News 12, the final decision will be made tomorrow. Along with that, in El Al, which operates two regular flights to China that operate 7 weekly flights, it was immediately decided that air crews will only stay in Beijing and Hong Kong for 12 hours and return to Israel instead of 4 nights as the company has so far.

At the same time, after they launched a protest this week to test those returning from China without anti-epidemic equipment, the Ministry of Health made it clear to border crossing workers that “the risk to Israelis at this stage and specifically to Ben-Gurion airport workers is not high.” According to the ministry, the low risk is due to the fact that in China a significant closure has been imposed on the areas where the disease spread is high, and also because the authorities in China have stopped leaving organized groups outside the borders of the country. “In order to become infected, close contact with a patient is required, so even in the case of a person with the disease coming to Israel – the chance of being infected by random and short contact is extremely low,” the letter emphasized.

“There is no evidence, as of today, to transmit the virus through goods or food. The vast majority of patients are cured of the disease, and probably in most patients the disease is mild.” The Health Ministry summed up the letter, emphasizing that “as of today, we do not see any significant danger to airport employees from becoming infected with the Corona virus due to their work”.

At noon, the Ministry of Health announced that it was considering the possibility of calling the public returning from China to refrain from walking in public places for several days after returning to Israel, even if they were healthy and without any signs of illness. In addition, China’s entry and exit policy will be “broadly” examined. The ministry said the decision will be made at the upcoming meetings to review the epidemic.

According to official data, at least 106 of the viruses have threatened to threaten Asia. The vast majority of patients, some 4,500 people, are Chinese citizens. The state health commission said they suspected that another 7,000 people had been infected and were placed in isolation until the results of the tests were obtained. Alongside this, statistics show that the disease mortality rate is 2.5% of 4,500 infected.

Two separate studies that analyzed the Chinese virus spread revealed that a patient infects 2-3 more. According to the Chinese authorities, most of the deaths from the virus are in humans whose health is low.
