The following statements were used in a written statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

* The United Kingdom (UK) is officially leaving the European Union (EU) membership as of January 31, 2020, thereby completing the process that started with the referendum held in June 2016.

* It is clear that the UK will remain one of the most important and valuable components of Europe, while leaving the EU.

* Turkey, in supporting our EU membership process, the principal is aware of the attitude of the UK will provide added value to our country’s regional and global position of the EU role it can play with is always appreciated.

* After separation from the UK’s EU membership of Turkey-UK relations are satisfactory, the presence of common political will to further develop in all fields.

* New era of relations between the UK and Turkey, as well as the interests of both sides, we believe will create significant opportunities in terms of improving regional and global stability.

* Unless otherwise regulated between the EU and the UK, our relations with the UK will remain unaffected by the exit process during the transition period until 31 December 2020, and the UK will remain subject to EU law.

* During this period, necessary work will be carried out quickly with the UK authorities in all areas of our relations that will be affected by the separation process. (IHA)
