Saudi Arabia signs a preliminary study contract for the Hyperloop Project with Virgin “Hyperloop One”

The Ministry of Transport has signed a contract with Virgin Hyperloop One, the world leader in the development of Hyperloop technology. Under which, “Virgin Hyperloop One” will conduct a preliminary study on the use of Hyperloop technology in the field of passenger and cargo transport in the Kingdom, in addition to conducting joint researches in the Hyperloop science and technology and exchanging technical visits to officials and specialists in the field of transportation. The project comes within the objectives of the Ministry of Transport for the future planning of modern transportation systems As well as attracting modern technology to facilitate and provide several smart patterns of mobility.This study comes after the visit of the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, to the United States of America, the company’s headquarters and briefed on what it developed for the passenger trailer. This agreement is the latest in a series of partnerships that exist in the Kingdom, which includes the Misk Foundation and the Economic Cities Authority, in addition to the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

The Minister of Transport, Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser, commented: “This step is an extension of what the Crown Prince affirmed about the importance of the role of the transport sector in shaping the future of the economy within the Saudi Vision 2030.
