Coronavirus, Fials’ commitment to fight the spread of the infection

In just a few hours, what seemed to be just a bogeyman became reality: Italy is also officially on the red alert for a coronavirus pandemic.
We believe we need an extraordinary hiring plan, especially doctors, nurses, social health workers and radiology technicians and we are available, pending, to define, in contingent cases, organizational measures in hospitals and local services, also in derogation of contractual provisions in force with regard to prompt availability, availability and the need for necessary personnel to face the current state of emergency on the national territory.
So did the Secretary General of FIALS, Giuseppe Carbone, with a note to the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza.
First of all, we would like to thank and congratulate you for the excellent work of managing the alarm among citizens and the measures put in place to contain the infection.
Right now, a real maxi-emergency is taking place in Lombardy connected to the onset of Coronavirus. The costs in terms of risks and working hours are borne by doctors, nurses, radiology technicians and support staff, in particular those engaged in the management of emergencies / emergencies outside the hospital and in the various emergency rooms.
Like FIALS, we cannot exempt ourselves from being close to the healthcare professionals we represent.
Therefore, in order to carry out our function in the best way and to be as useful as possible to the cause, we want to be promoters of a comparison to share guidelines aimed at ensuring the maximum effort to contrast the spread of the infection and, above all, to support those who in this currently it protects the entire population at the forefront, also putting their health and that of loved ones at risk.
Considering that the involvement of several areas of the national territory cannot be excluded and that it is necessary and necessary to further strengthen the measures implemented so far, we are available in the dialogue to share with you and with the President of the Conference of the Regions, Stefano Bonaccini contingent measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
As well as taking univocal decisions at national level how to handle cases and to protect the health of our professionals. Health workers and social and health workers must necessarily be made safe in order to continue helping others and it is essential that the Regions immediately provide the required protective material.
As a trade union organization, we are committed to offering maximum support to the institutions to face this national emergency.
We believe it is necessary to work hard and all together, against an invisible and unpredictable enemy.
As you yourself said “our National Health Service is strong and will be able to deal with the emergency” thanks above all to our health professionals who today and in the coming days will work in conditions with the greatest impact of stress and workload.
