The Israeli police, in collaboration with the Ministry of Enforcement and Supervision of the Ministry of Health, launched an investigation into a suspect who is pretending to be a dermatologist and who, over the past few years, has suspected that his patients have performed medical operations that are only permitted by a qualified doctor.
It is suspected that the imposter used to rent a room in the clinics where he received the patients and as part of the treatment he used to inject them with different materials while promising to provide cosmetic treatment of different types.
The suspect was arrested a month ago following a complaint received from a patient who suspected it was an imposter. Police launched a covert investigation that led to several other patients telling them about the damage they suffered as a result of the imposter doctor’s treatment.
Yesterday (Tuesday), the suspect was arrested and in possession of syringes, needles and medical supplies that are allowed for possession and use only by a qualified physician.
The suspect, who was born in Tel Aviv in 1985, was taken for questioning at the police station and this morning (Wednesday) will be brought to the court for a hearing to extend his detention.
It is suspected that over the years, the impostor has received patients in clinics in the Tel Aviv area and in Bnei Brak, and has performed medical operations on other patients.
The suspect’s arrest was extended until next Sunday. The judge noted that there was an element of danger and added a note in the minutes of the hearing that “the name of the suspect is needed in order to locate complainants and other complainants.”
