IMM announced the earthquake meeting areas

İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu announced the “Earthquake Mobilization Plan” during the October session of the IMM Assembly. Imamoglu announced that 859 new meeting areas with a total of 32 million square meters have been determined in Istanbul and will be announced to the public within 3 months.

He noted that the earthquake parks will be opened in İmamoğlu, Ataşehir and Zeytinburnu. With the Elazig earthquake, the most important discussion topic about the expected big Istanbul earthquake, which was once again on the agenda, has been completed preparatory work initiated by IMM on the earthquake gathering, which was opened to reconstruction.

IMM Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department determined the “Gathering and Temporary Housing Areas” of 39 districts with the decision support model.

In the model applied, the criteria for meeting area selection were determined, the scoring method was applied and a model was put forward based on the scientific bases in which many institutions related to AFAD, AKOM, Coastal Safety Directorate, Parks and Gardens Directorate were included. DISCHARGE CORRIDORS DETERMINED

The meeting areas selection criteria were examined on a scientific basis and implemented in the Decision Support Model.

With this emerging model; Evacuation corridors and evacuation routes, which will provide access from the building to the assembly area at the time of the disaster, and then to the temporary accommodation area from the assembly area, were determined by making distinctions for pedestrians and vehicles, and an action plan at the time of the disaster was created.

The meeting areas determined; It was separated according to their size, functions and services.

AREAS TO SURVIVE ACUTE SHOCK

Temporary Housing Areas where evacuation will be provided after the meeting areas were determined by following the decision support model.

Temporary Housing Areas; Systems such as electricity, water, sewerage, and communication that will meet the most basic needs of people with infrastructure that will enable people affected by the disaster to survive temporary shelter and acute shock will be available.

Shopping malls became a gathering and accommodation area

An interesting result came out when the map was examined. It is noteworthy that there are squares and graveyards in front of the shopping malls in the “gathering areas” and shopping malls in the “temporary accommodation areas”. Public gardens, stadiums, squares, outdoor sports areas, parks, military areas, sports facilities and shopping malls have been determined as “temporary shelter areas” where the housing needs of the population, whose residences have become unusable due to the earthquake. In these areas, besides Sultanahmet Square, Taksim Square and Gezi Park, shopping malls also took place.

CEMETERIES MEETING AREA

Small-scale “gathering areas” that allow people to reach urgently during and after the disaster and to meet and communicate with their relatives and to communicate with their relatives were determined as shopping malls, open car parks, cemeteries, education, religious facilities and gardens of official institutions. There are points such as Gülhane Park, Sultanahmet Mosque, İÜ Beyazıt Campus, Maçka Park, Feriköy Cemetery, Zincirlikuyu Cemetery among the gathering areas.
