The company has admitted to having created a fund for luxury gifts, trips and entertainment of foreign officials to win orders from state-owned companies. Also one Egyptian subsidiary pleaded guilty in a federal court in New York of having conspired to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977.

"The corrupt conduct of Ericsson has involved senior executives"said Brian Benczkowski, head of the Justice Department's criminal division American law recognizes the jurisdiction over the corruption of companies whose shares are sold to the US stock exchange or if the crimes concern the territory.
