From November onwards every headache, tooth or any shoulder ailment is always the fault of the cervical. Even back pain. But does it really always have or is it a mantra that is repeated without there being a minimum of scientific reliability? Let's say that the cervical one is one of the most common pains: they suffer from it sooner or later practically everyone, the specialists estimate it to be 60% of the population. It starts as an acute episode, but in 10% of cases it can even become chronic. We speak of cervicalgia, more simply called "cervical", from the name of the part of the column that supports the head, the cervical spine. We talk about it tomorrow, Tuesday 3 December, on Salute, on newsstands with Repubblica.

Depending on the age the causes can be different: in young adults it is mainly a question of incorrect posture and sudden movements, and many studies accuse the massive use of tablets and cell phones, which vitiate the posture; in the elderly, alterations caused by arthrosis can also act.
But on the next issue of Salute we will also talk about children's sleep, male diseases and prevention for children, melanoma and the nutritional value of sardines. And finally we will visit the high-tech hospital with robot nurses and a "tailor-made" supermarket for Alzheimer's patients.
