The American soccer player Megan Rapinoe was awarded with the women's Golden Ball for the best player of the year. It is the second winner of the most coveted professional prize of professional football, which last year alongside the male one awarded since 1956 by the French magazine France Football: last year the first edition was won by the Norwegian Ada Hegerberg. Rapinoe is 34 years old and since 2013 has been playing with the Seattle Reign in the North American National Women's Soccer League. Last summer he won the World Cup for the second time with the US national team, of which he was the best scorer along with teammate Alex Morgan.
