Matteo Salvini at the EU attack: what is the Nutri-score on which they "work secretly against Italy"

TO Door to door Matteo Salvini has launched its new political battle. This time theEuropean Union, in his opinion, is targeting i Italian food products, since he would be secretly working on the introduction of alabel common simplified, which would indicate the healthiness of foods, following the criteria established by theWHO. This initiative, called Nutri-score, builds on a European citizens' initiative, which has not yet reached the number of signatures needed to reach Brussels. The Nutri-score would consist of a single European labeling mechanism that crosses colors is letters (the first 5 of the alphabet). According to some green and socialist MEPs, the rule would favor European trade integration and protect the health of citizens, given that on the basis of the colors and the letters the indications of the harmful products to health. Despite good intentions, Nutri-score threatens some famous Italian products, which could be labeled as harmful.

It is Matteo Salvini who denounces the risks: "Red light for pecorino romano, gorgonzola, il raw ham, instead green for Coca zero and Redbull. As we know, some typical products of the Mediterranean diet– such as oil, San Daniele ham or Parmigiano are considered harmful by the World Health Organization due to the high content of fat is salt; and this label could discourage the consumption within the Union. On the contrary, the multinationals, defeating the competition, could take advantage of it – warns Salvini. Some MEPs would be working secretly to convince the new Commission to legislate to do so. For Italian products, given the premises, it would be a blow.
