Leibman was born in New York in 1937 and had become famous among the public for playing the role of Rachel's grumpy and irascible father between 1996 and 2004. In 1979 he won an Emmy award for the series "Kaz", which has created, and a Tony award for Tony Kushner's theatrical comedy "Angels in America".
