Our preview of Xiaomi Mi Note 10, the first smartphone to be marketed with a 108 MP camera. Arrives in Italy at 599.90 euros. </p><div>
<p><strong>Mi Note 10 has just been officially presented</strong> during an event still going on in Madrid. With this smartphone, Xiaomi brought the Mi Note series back to life after having decreed the end only a few months ago, along with the Mi Max range. As can be easily understood, the peculiarity of this smartphone is all in the photographic sector.
The device is equipped with a 108 Megapixel main sensor (f / 1.69) with optical stabilization. It is the ISOCELL Bright 1 / 1.33 ″ sensor from Samsung, the same as seen on board the particular and expensive Alpha Mix. To keep him company, there are four other sensors: a 5 Megapixel telephoto lens (f / 2.0 and OIS) with 5X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom and 50X digital zoom, a second 12 Megapixel (f / 2.0) telephoto lens with 2X zoom mainly used for portrait mode, an ultra-wide 20 Megapixel sensor (f / 2.2) and finally a macro sensor from 2 Megapixels (f / 2.4) for shots between 2 and 10 cm.
In short, a configuration capable of giving Xiaomi yet another boost in photography. It is no coincidence that the photographic sector has already been rewarded by the well-known DxOMark portal which has awarded it 121 points, bringing it to the first position next to Huawei's Mate 30 Pro, which however manages to do slightly better on the photo side. It should be emphasized that the unit tested by DxOMark is the Premium unit which has an 8-lens lens. This will come in the future as Mi Note 10 Pro in the configuration with 8 Gigabytes of RAM and 256 Gigabytes of internal memory.
It will be interesting to understand how the 108 Megapixel sensor behaves take photos in 27 megapixels through the technology of pixel binning. The front camera instead is 32 Megapixel (f / 2.0) and is implemented in a drip notch. The first shots taken seem to promise well, but the lighting conditions in which we could test it are not the best. For this we refer the complete judgment to the review that we will publish in the coming days.
From the design point of view, Mi Note 10 has all the air of a high-end device. The shell is made of glass and the colors are lively. Available colors are Midnight Black, Aurora Green and Glacier White. The front is occupied by a 6.47-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD + resolution and aspect ratio in 19.5: 9. The display obviously has an impact with the usual deep blacks and the excellent contrast that characterizes this type of panel. The edges are curved. Here too we reserve the right to express a final opinion later.
The biometric sensor for fingerprints is implemented below the display and – according to Xiaomi – it is 88% thinner than those currently used in smartphones but with a 10% greater area for fingerprinting. In short, it should improve one of the less convincing aspects seen – for example – on Mi 9T.
The hardware platform, on the other hand, belongs to the medium-high range. On board we have the Snapdragon 730G coupled to 6 Gigabytes of RAM and 128 Gigabytes of internal memory. There is no lack of 3.5 mm audio jacks and NFC. The whole is powered by one 5,260 mAh battery with 30W fast charge support allowing you to recharge more than 50% in just 30 minutes. Mi Note 10 arrives with on board Android 9 Pie with MIUI 11 graphic interface with all the news that this brings. In short, we are facing one of the most interesting smartphones of the second half of 2019.
Chapter prices and availability. Mi Note 10 6 / 128GB will be available in Italy starting November 15 at a price of 599.90 euros on the official website of the manufacturer (mi.com), the authorized Mi Stores, in the sales points of the telephone operators Vodafone, TIM, Wind Three and at the main distribution chains. Furthermore, from 11 to 14 November, while stocks last, it will be possible to pre-order Mi Note 10 at the same price, but with the possibility of receiving a coupon worth 50 euros to be used from November 15th to December 15th at any Mi Store.
The price is not what Xiaomi has accustomed us to. Mi Note 10 begins to detach itself slightly from the philosophy of the excellent quality / price ratio that characterizes the products of the Chinese brand. If on one hand, in fact, it can be justified by the presence of a respectable photographic sector; on the other hand, the choice of a processor that does not belong to the high end is a bit distorted. Mi Note 10, in fact, goes to position itself in that price range generally intended for the Mi Mix line, which however has always relied on top of the range SoC. As always, the ball now goes to the market.
