An unexpected setback for Bosca S. Bernardo Cuneo who, after the brilliant victories with the battleships Scandicci and Monza, ran into a 3-0 draw at the Pala George in Montichiari.
The Valsabbina Millenium Brescia smiles and finds in Mingardi the ace up its sleeve: after the 32 points signed with Novara, there are 23 balls grounded this evening by the Brescia lioness. The approach to the race for the red and white cats is negative: after a disoriented first set, the Cuneoers always remain "clinging" to the race without imposing themselves in the decisive phases.
Coach Pistola sends Cambi into the field, Van Hecke opposite, Candi and Zambelli Centrale, Markovic and captain Nizetich in the band, Zannoni free. Coach Mazzola responds with Caracuta to dribble diagonally with Mingardi, Speech and Veltman in the center, Rivero and former Segura crushers, Parlangeli to defend the second line. Ready to go and the first point of the match is signed by Zambelli.
From a partial initial of 1-3 for the Cuneo players to 9-5 in favor of the landlords who take advantage of the many uncertainties of the guests: coach Pistola runs for cover and uses the first time out of the match. We start with the point of Candi. The Cuneo area struggles to find continuity in the offensive actions, with the Brescia wall that "dirty" or blocks numerous balls: the second t.o. requested by the red and white bench. Do not stop at Rivero's service: Banca Valsabbina moves to 17-7. Mingardi puts numerous balls on the ground, Cuneo slowly raises his head, but the gap remains so.
On 21-11 the first ace of the match also arrives, to sign him Segura. Coach Mazzola sends Bridi and Saccomani onto the pitch. On 22-16 there is the first Cuneo point wall by Van Hecke. Mingardi and Caracuta come back. Rivero's hands out blocks the positive shift to Markovic's service. The first set closes with Segura's winning attack: 25-18 (1-0).
We start again with Van Hecke in batting. The Bosca S. Bernardo Cuneo collects the point of the 1-3 at the end of the longest and most exciting exchange of the match, then the red and white players start to struggle again, giving their rivals four consecutive points (5-3). Nizetich and companions do not meet again and suffer above all in reception: the second ace of Segura forces coach Pistola to a new time out on the 8-4.
From Speech 10-5 to 13-10: in the field Fridge that goes into service after 14-12. Markovic brings detachment to a length (14-13). The draw comes with the authoritative Candi wall (15-15) and goes on with Markovic. Still the Candi wall for 16-18: time out for coach Mazzola. On 18-19 in the field Mazzoleni. The lionesses take the lead 20-19, inside Rigdon which immediately signs 20-20.
The Frigo wall balances the fate of the set (21-21), before the parallel of Van Hecke (21-22). The video check awarded 22-22 signed by Mingardi. The George Shovel ignites. On 23-22, Captain Nizetich returns. New draw at 23 with Segura's "double". First set point for Brescia, coach Pistola takes advantage of the second time out.
The Bosca S. Bernardo Cuneo equalizes the accounts, Rivero brings forward the lionesses (25-24). Eternal exchange of the 26-25, unlucky, then, the point of 27-25: the red and white cats show signs of reaction, but the landlords carry on 2-0.
It starts with Rigdon and Frigo in the Cuneo sextet. Point to point up to 4-4, with errors on both fronts. The first ace of the competition for the Bosca S. Bernardo Cuneo, signed by Cambi (4-5), arrives. The teams face off with an open face, Rigdon brings the red and white forward 7-9. The subsequent Mazzoleni attack error leads coach Mazzola to the first t.o. of the set.
The lionesses return below thanks to the service of Rivero and the wall of Mazzoleni (11-11). On Rivero's pipe, time out also for coach Pistola. Cuneo again ahead with Van Hecke (13-14). Frigo's Wall for 15-16, Segura's next attack (15-17) goes online: Jones Perry enters. Cuneese reception mess: 18-18. It starts with the Rigdon wall: 18-20, Segura returns.
Out the attack of a super Mingardi: coach Mazzola requires time out on 18-21. From 20-21 to the hands out of Rigdon (20-22). Heart-pounding finale. Ace di Rivero: 22-22 and time out for coach Pistola. Rigdon fires a missile in the three meters (22-23), but Mingardi reconquers parity first and the advantage with an imposing wall (24-23). The former Segura closes: 25-23, the Banca Valsabbina Millenium Brescia wins the three points at stake with a severe 3-0.
"Tonight he definitely won Brescia – said Andrea Pistola, coach of Bosca S. Bernardo Cuneo – they had the right mental approach, we tackled the game too lightly, without the right determination against a team that played 'to death' . We tried to stay in the race with obvious difficulty in attack and reception; pity because the second and third sets have escaped us due to our demerits, decisive ingenuity. It is good to have only two days before returning to the field with Chieri, the desire for redemption is great. Sorry because after the sensational victories we lowered our guard with a team that made competition the main resource and it wasn't the right evening to do it ".
MVP of the match Francesca Parlangeli. Saturday 2 November, at 8.30 pm, a new home commitment for the Bosca S. Bernardo Cuneo that, within the walls of the UBI Banca Pala, will challenge the Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri in a compelling Piedmontese derby, the second of the season after the challenge with the 'Igor Volley Novara.
