vast floods and roads like rivers in the Sassi

As widely expected a strong wave of bad weather is sweeping the south of Italy and in particular Basilicata and Puglia where rainfall is already recorded locally close to 100 mm (in this case on the metapontino and in the Matera area). The most important damage, at the moment, is caused by the gusts of sirocco as demonstrated by collapse of the illuminations of Adelfia (BA).

A veritable storm is on Matera and a large part of the metapontino: at least fifty firefighters' interventions due to fallen trees and fallen poles. Damage to some roofs in the Matera area.
The most important problems are recorded between Policoro, Scanzano Jonico and Montalbano. A landslide was recorded on the provincial road 3, near Ferrandina.
Extensive floods are reported in Matera: the roads of the Sassi have turned into real rivers in flood. At the moment there are no injuries.
