Appeal to challenge the race director's decision, Martin Atkinson, who first warned Son Heung-min for the foul on Andre Gomes, which gave rise to the terrible Portuguese injury, then changed the decision and extracted the red card against of the Tottenham footballer. He would have done it both for the conditions of the Everton midfielder and for the suggestion coming from the cabin of the Var with respect to the dynamics of the action and the consequences. The Spurs appeal to this particular to reject the disqualification of the player whose infringement was initially sanctioned by the race director with the 'yellow'.

Tottenham's appeal against red and Son disqualification

Why did the referee opt for the most severe measure? This was clarified by an official note of the Premier League in the hours immediately following the championship race: the direct expulsion was motivated by the need to censor an intervention that "put the safety and security of a player in danger" because of that foul operation.

The case of obvious error. This is the essence of the appeal presented by the Spurs who – according to the Football Association guidelines – aim to show how the red card drawn by the race director was an "obvious mistake". The defensive thesis will be discussed before a disciplinary commission that will evaluate the motion raised by the London company: in the event of acceptance of the application the disqualification of the player would be immediately withdrawn.

What is Tottenham's defense thesis. According to Tottenham's version of events, there was no intention on Son's part to hurt Andre Gomes. And that the consequences of that slip are the result of a series of events not directly dependent on the will of Son: he entered the tackle to take the ball but on the subsequent injury of the Portuguese, later faced also by Aurier, he has no faults.

Pochettino thanks Everton players for comforting Son

Andre Gomes was operated on his right ankle for the displaced fracture: the operation was perfectly successful and, almost certainly, in the next few days he will receive the sight of Son. The Tottenham footballer, desperate for what happened, left the field in tears and the company decided to put at his disposal a psychological support to help him metabolize the deep sense of guilt for 'having hurt' (even if unintentionally) opponent. The Spurs technician, Pochettino, recounted what happened in those moments so strong from an emotional point of view and above all praised the Everton captain, Seamus Coleman, for reaching Son in the locker room and trying to console him. The Toffees captain knows what it means to stay out for over a year due to an injury: in 2017 he suffered a double fracture in his leg that was just as horrible.
