The Global Wildlife Conservation and the Southern Institute of Ecology have announced that a species considered extinct by scientists is still present on our planet. It is a small creature similar to a deer, but the size of a rabbit: it was photographed in the wild for the first time in thirty years in southern Vietnam. The silver-backed chevrotain, also called the Vietnamese mouse-deer, was last seen more than 25 years ago, when a team of Vietnamese and Russian researchers photographed the animal killed by a hunter. In five months of setting up the photo-traps about 2 thousand images have been collected that attest to its existence. Despite their nickname, chevrotain are neither mice nor deer. They are shy and lonely, and usually weigh less than 10 pounds
