High water in Venice. The city of Venice struggling with high water. A situation caused by minimal depression on the northern Adriatic to which is added the sirocco wind. In the city there is an alert, and for today and tomorrow nursery schools and kindergartens have been closed. Both in Venice and Chioggia, around 5.30am, alarm sirens were sounded that alerted the population of the incipient high water. However, bad weather affects all of Veneto with rains both on the plains and in the mountains. At 10.20 the tide stopped at 127 centimeters. The maximum recorded at sea was 137 centimeters. However, the forecasts for very high water are confirmed, with the next maximum expected at 11.00 pm with 140 centimeters. Another peak of 145 centimeters is instead scheduled for 10:25 tomorrow. The meteorological situation is defined as "highly dynamic" and therefore susceptible to variations.
Once again the water enters the Basilica of San Marco, in the narthex, bathing ancient marbles, masegni, columns, just as had happened in October 2018, when the damages were so many and restoring the splendor of the basilica was not an easy task.
