Accuse of extortion to a worker: he had threatened to report injuries that had never occurred in the reconstruction excavations
He is accused of attempted extortion and will not be able to approach the offices of the former employer for a while, the worker – middle age, Egyptian origins – that for six months he participated in the construction of the new viaduct on the Polcevera, the bridge designed by Renzo Piano that will stretch for 1,067 meters, with its 18 stacks of reinforced concrete and its 19 spans. The "prohibition of approach" (the provision of the judge for preliminary investigations) was executed a few days ago by the police after the requests of the deputy prosecutor Luca Monteverde.
At the beginning of 2019 the worker signed a six-month contract with Ireos, which deals with disposing of the thousands of tons of cement demolished by Morandi. From what has been learned, the company is immediately clear with him: he explains that after the period indicated in the agreement their paths will separate because then there would have been no need for him anymore. The North African worker collects the contract and rolls up his sleeves, convinced he can change his mind at the top of the company over the weeks.
When time is running out, however, the man realizes that his contract will not be renewed. He immediately showed himself to be very worried because the fate of his family depended on those revenues. Then, instead of relying on his own reasons, perhaps through the mediation of some trade unionist, he loses control. According to the reconstruction by the Public Prosecutor and the police, the worker begins to target an Ireos employee: he is convinced that he is a figure of weight within the company, above all he believes that most of the faults of his non-renewal are his. He goes to the office with him, contacts him on the phone all the time.
