"Everything makes us think that the explosion was deliberately and deliberately determined." This was said by the attorney of Alexandria after the inspection of the abandoned Quargnento farmhouse.

From the elements acquired, the investigators decidedly focus on the fraudulent fact. It makes him believe with reasonable certainty the finding of rudimentary triggers, electric wires and a box that could be a timer, connected to some cylinders left unexploded.

The timer on site: "it is a malicious act"

«A huge tragedy, we are working to understand who and what
have caused it – the prosecutor of Alessandria Enrico Cieri -. The discovery of the timer and the connected tank suggest that it was a deliberate and deliberately determined thing. There were more intervals of explosions ».

And again: "We are digging because the first objective is to secure the area and we are examining the findings. The investigations we are carrying out will allow us to evaluate time and dynamics of the explosions ».

The witness

The testimony left by an audio communication from a fire brigade coordinator is dramatic, but evident: «It seems that colleagues have arrived that there had already been an explosion and while they were inside, where these tanks were, there is it was another explosion – the fireman says – It seems that there were triggers above to make the building explode. This is what the Head of the Body told us ».

For now, the quaestor of Alessandri Michele Morelli excludes only the subversive-terrorist track. But it is certain that someone wanted to lure the fire department into a death trap. But who and why?

In these first few hectic hours, motivations linked to local hatreds or interests are sought. However, the ferocity of the act remains. The number of connected cylinders, if we also include unexploded ones, obviously had to serve to provoke a large-scale explosion.

What is unfortunately certain is only that three firemen died in the farmhouse: Antonino Candido, Marco Triches, and Matteo Gastaldo. The farmhouse where the tragedy occurred was in the open countryside on the road from the town of Quargnento towards the district of Strada Ronco.
